UAKU March and Rally, Tuesday March 4
12:30 Wescoe Beach on the KU Campus
From Mark Jaskowski, United Academics of KU (UAKU)-
“We’ve been trying to get KU back to the bargaining table for two weeks now. Our negotiating team has proposed a bunch of dates, including on weekends, and KU has been refused to meet. Now they have threatened a seven-day deadline for us to accept their most recent terrible offer, or else they’ll petition the Public Employee Relations Board to declare an impasse in bargaining, which might allow the Board of Regents to unilaterally impose a contract on us.
In short: they’re trying to bust our union.
So, we’re having another rally this coming Wednesday, March 4, at 12:30 on Wescoe Beach (the concrete area outside Wescoe facing Strong Hall on Jayhawk Blvd). Since the new year, the only time we’ve seen the administration willing to move at all is when we’ve loudly and publicly demonstrated the support we have within the university and the Lawrence community. It would be a huge help if anyone could attend on Wednesday. Let me know if I’ll see you there!
I’m attaching our flier for the rally and also a flier we’ve been using about the administration’s disappearing act, which has a QR code to email KU and tell them to come back to negotiations.” ~Mark
