“Johnson County citizens are uniting to say: NO ICE IN JOCO Support our immigrant neighbors. Say loud and clear...we do not support ICE kidnappings. We demand our city and county government commit to justice, safety and dignity for all residence regardless of immigration status. Bring signs supporting immigrants and melting ICE! Line the street from 80th - 103rd and Metcalf. Both sides!
Why protest now? All people on U.S. soil are entitled to DUE PROCESS, but ICE is snatching people off the streets with no warrants and no explanation. More than 90% of those detained are NOT violent criminals. Being undocumented in the U.S. is a civil violation. Simply being undocumented does not make someone a criminal. Join us in saying NO ICE in JOCO.
A core principle behind No ICE in JoCo is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at this event.”
