Michael Fanone Speaking at Maceli's
March 1, 10:30am to 12:00pm
Sponsored by “Leading Kansas”
This event will be held at Maceli’s Event Center, Lawrence, KS
“Join Leading Kansas for Hold the Line: A Conversation with Michael Fanone, a moderated discussion about the defense of democracy, civic responsibility, and what it means to hold the line when democratic institutions are tested.
January 6 was not just a single day. It was a moment that revealed how fragile democratic norms can be and how essential individual responsibility, accountability, and public service are to preserving them. Fanone, a former DC Metropolitan Police Officer who responded during the attack on the U.S. Capitol, will reflect on that day and the lasting lessons it carries for our country.
This conversation will explore the broader implications of January 6, including the role of institutions, the consequences of political extremism, and the responsibility citizens share in defending democratic principles before, during, and long after moments of crisis.
This event is not about party politics. It is about democracy, the rule of law, and the responsibility to stand up for them.
What to Expect: -A moderated conversation with Michael Fanone -Reflections on January 6 as a turning point, not an endpoint -Discussion on accountability, civic duty, and democratic resilience -Audience Q&A
