Here is the blurb that Dr Cynthia sent me today.
Mapping Climate Resilience In Your Community
In this workshop we will use publicly available mapping tools to explore climate risk and discuss strategies for households and communities to increase our resiliency to future weather related disasters. We will create our own map to explore our perceptions of the changing climate and share ideas for how to better adapt to the changes we are experiencing. There is a great deal of information at our disposal that can help us to stay informed and prepared, and we will learn how to effectively interpret the data so that we can apply it to our everyday lives.
Dr. Cynthia Annett is a Research Associate Professor at the Center for Hazardous Substance Research at Kansas State University. She co-led the recently published ASTM standard guide for Climate and Community Mapping (E3640) and currently co-leads the task group developing an ASTM standard guide for Reducing Inland Flood Risk using Nature-based Solutions. These guides are two of the first to be developed by the new ASTM Subcommittee on Climate and Community (E50.07) and represents a new area of standards development focused on climate change. Her work with K-State includes leading mapping initiatives for contaminated site remediation and providing technical assistance to communities for climate resiliency.
